Now on to the interview questions!
Q: How old were you when you first started to become involved in music?
A: I was around 11/12 when I first started having an interest in music, there was a recording studio in my local boys and girls club and I tried it out.
Q: How would you describe your music?
A: My music is about what I feel inside, my emotions basically. I love to express how I feel and I don't rap about money, drugs, sex, cars, or fame like all the music you hear on the radio.
Q: What message do you hope people take from your music?
A: I want them to know that not all artists are serious 24/7 I think some artist try to hard to get there point across. I like to have fun in my songs while giving a message as well.
Q: Who is someone in the music industry who has inspired you and your music? Was there anyone specific who helped inspire you to want to be in music?
A: Kendrick Lamar is one of my biggest inspirations, he is a lyrical genius in my eyes and I listen to him mostly. He knows what I am feeling and puts it in a song basically. He is someone who has grown and is not afraid to share his faults.
Q: If you had the chance and could work with any artist of your choosing, who would it be with and why?
A: I would work with Kendrick Lamar because I think he has a lot to offer me, he's experienced in the music industry and he is very lyrical and keeps things real. I think he could teach me a few tricks on rapping or even performing to better my music.
Q: Where would you like to see your self 5-10 years from now?
A: In 5-10 years I would like to see myself performing in places or producing music for any local or upcoming artists. I want to be someone people can look up to or people can come to through music whenever they can't find anyone to talk to. I have a passion and it's something I've always enjoyed so why not share that with other people?
ok and of course you all know I had to throw some random questions in there haha!
Q: If you could ask an Alien one question what would it be?
A: If I could ask one question to an alien I would ask them why haven't they came to earth because we have been looking for you for like 100+ years haha.
Q: If you needed body guards who would you choose to be your personal body guards, The Ninja Turtles or The Power Rangers?
A: I would choose the Ninja Turtles because they're turtles! How sick is that? Being guarded by mutants :).
Q: If you could choose any song to play when you walk in the room between the original classic "Spider Man" theme song or "Batman" song which one would it be?
A: I would choose the batman theme because I like how batman knows when to be seen and when to be stealthy, plus he has a butler how cool is that!
And that's a wrap on this months theme Music! A special thank you to all the artists and bands that let me feature them! I had a blast hope you loves enjoyed it I know I did! It's the last week of May and unfortunately we only have one more Artist to go after today's post.(SAD FACE)BUUUT until then how about getting to know a ridiculously awesome and very talented young women with a really chill Hip Hop/Neo Soul sound. Super excited to be featuring the beautiful Miss "J.Lynn" today!!!
Take a look and listen to her Hot Single "I RISE" !!!!!
And since I can totally tell you all had to have loved that cause I know I did! If you want to check out more of J.Lynn make sure to purchase "I Rise" on ITunes right now! And you can also find her on Instagram: @yeskahsweet Facebook: Jessica Kimble,YouTube and Soundcloud.
"I Rise"was one of the first songs I heard by J.Lynn, and what was really cool was the first time I heard it she had performed it live. She has such a chill vibe in her music that I can't help but love and what I really like is she also has a reggae feel as well. Best of all I love the fact that her message in her music and in person is so positive.
My sisters and I are really blessed that we have had the chance to meet someone not only talented but kind. Above all I seriously can not get over how good her live performances are! She knows what she's doin and it shows by how pumped she gets the crowed going! When She takes the stage she owns it and her music takes off making you want to sing along and dance! To me I think that is one of the coolest things is when an artist can do that, especially when they interact with the crowd and she totally does with a feel good vibe. And now without further ado here is my interview with the lovely Miss J.Lynn!!!
Q: Can you tell me a little about how yourself and how you first started off in music?
A: My name is J.Lynn. I am a hip-hop/reggae/neo soul artist. How I started off in music? I started dabbling with music when I lived in the Coachella Valley area from 2008-2012, I use to jam out with a reggae band called "Revol Concept", then in 2013 I moved out to Oxnard and started making a name for myself in the Ventura County Community as a hip-hop and neo-soul artist. Just recently I've discovered that most of new music has a more reggae feel.
Q: When was your first ever performance live, how was that experience for you? A: My first performance live, wow, my first performance was at an open-mic 2008 in Palm Springs California. I performed a song on my guitar, I was so nervous that my hands were shaking making it difficult for me to hold the guitar notes, hahaha!
The last time I saw you, I watched you perform your song "I Rise". Which I totally have to say I love by the way! It's such a chill vibe, yet it so makes you wanna get up and not only sing along but dance to it.
Q: What was your inspiration writing that song? Can you tell us more about the meaning of the song? A: I RISE!! Haha! My inspiration for that song was, good vibrations, I just wanted people to feel good. The meaning of that song is always shifting, it's a song about triumph, fighting internal battles and rising above the challenges life throws at us. I Rise is about feeling good about oneself and living in love.
Q: Who are some music artist that have helped inspired you in your music career? A: Yarah Bravo, KNS Rockstar, Jay Sinuous, Israel Acosta, Sade Champagne, System of a Down, Lauryn Hill, Damian Marley, Stephan Marley, Erykah Badu, Nick Dolson, Danny Cedeno, Alton Ellis, Orishas, Locos Por Juana.
Q: If it's one message that you wish or hope that people take from your music what would it be?
A: Don't be afraid to discover yourself. It's okay to be self centered, being self centered is being balanced within yourself. Nobody can be you better than you! We were created in the image of the Most High and within each of us all is a universe of creativity expansion and love.
Q:Can we expect any new music or music videos on YouTube or on iTunes any time soon?! A: Yes, I will be dropping some new acoustic sounds! My sounds are ever changing, but I'll still keep it hip-hop!
And last but not least here are some Fun and Random/Questions to throw into the mix!
Q: Let's say you had the chance to ask an Alien one question, what question would that be?
A: Hahaha! If I could ask an Alien a question!?!?!? Hahahahaha!! I would ask about other parts of the universe and what that Alien's planet is like compared to Earth.
Q: If you could be a character in any of your favorite cartoon shows growing up, what cartoon would you want to be in and why? A: If I could be a cartoon? That's a good one, I think I'd be Jiggly Puff, I will sing my opponents to sleep. haha!
Q: I'm all about vibes and when it comes to Auras If you could choose the color of your Aura, what colors or color would you want your aura to be?
A: The color of my aura would be a honey lavender, calm and soothing.
Alright guys and there you have it! A Special Thank you to the awesome J.Lynn for taking the time out to do this! Thank you Love!!!

So I just want to take a quick moment to give a special Thank you to "The Blessings" especially Jeremy for taken the time out to answer my questions THANK YOU so much Darlin! I know some of my questions actually no let me rephrase that, I know probably most of my questions are the most random questions ever (Incase you loves haven't noticed it already in my other features already, my personal fav is the Alien question!!!) haha but I hope you enjoyed it as much as I did reading your answers!
"The Blessings" are a Deep Rooted Rock N Roll band that has a whole lot of Soul!! If your a classic rock & blues music lover this is the band/music for you! A while back I came across Jeremy's Instagram account and thought he as well as his pics were really cool. And just FYI this guy is super talented in Photography by the way might I add. (SPOIL ALERT!) I will also say it may have to do with next months Blog Theme!! (HINT. . . HINT) Then later on found out about his band (The Blessings) and as soon as I heard pretty much the first couple of seconds I was hooked! It's seriously really catchy and will for sure catch your attention first hearing it, and not to mention good lyrics! I don't know anyone who doesn't like some good and clever lyrics so that's also a major plus! The Blessings released "The Tomahawk Inn" in 2011, and now recently have been working on some new things!!
One being the video shooting for their new upcoming Music Video "Ship Wrecked". (Yeah I know I'm excited to!) And another the band is counting down the days to their New EP "Ship Wrecked" being releasde on May 30th! Sooooooo, since I wrote a whole novel like usual lets just get to the Questions already dang It Liv! Ok! So here's on to the Questions!
First off, I have to say how amazingly talented you are in music, you not only sing in your band The Blessings but as well as play the guitar and harmonica.
Q: At what age did you begin to become musically involved, did you start off singing and it lead to playing instruments? A: I started playing guitar at 15 but ended up singing for a band. Foolishly I put the guitar down for many years . I picked it back up again in my twenties. I had a band with my good friend Ronnie Younkins who also plays in Kix. We had written a song that he wanted harmonica on . I didn’t know how to play so he asked the lead singer from Kix, Steve Whiteman to teach me a few blues licks. Steve is a phenomenal harp player and was able to show me a few tricks that made it easy to learn more.
Q: How did the Blessings form? A: Mike and I started trying to put a band together years ago. We were writing songs with another guitar player named Gitano at the time and I was just the vocalist. When he moved away Mike and I continued on writing songs until we found the right batch of musicians.
Q: Also I'm very curious as of How did the band name "The Blessings" come to be, was there anything specific that influenced the name? A: I was in Tennessee driving to California and I passed through a town called Blessing.Tn. The sign post for that town kept flashing in my head and it dawned on me that it should be the name of my band.
Q: Has there been any special music influences/inspirations, that you have had possibly growing up that have helped form your sound in music today? A: Yes. Tons. I get very excited and inspired by listening to other artists. It’s no secret that the Faces and the Stones have had a huge impact. I love early J. Geills Band. They were such a high energy band and Peter Wolf is one of the best front men of all time. Very underrated. I’m a huge fan of Aerosmith, Humble Pie, Small Faces, Bob Seger, Billy Thorpe, Dr. Feelgood. There are so many people that influence me . Bo Diddley , Chuck Berry, Little Richard and Young Jessie. There’s a lot of country artists too. Some of the best lyricists are country singers . Old country singers, like Eddie Noack, George Jones, Hank Sr. Ferlin Husky, Don Gibson. I could list them all day.
Q: If you could work with any artist or band of your choice who would you choose and why? A: Probably Tom Petty. I think there’s a lot that could be learned from a guy like him . He’s one of the greatest songwriters of all time, a music historian, shrewd business man, and doesn’t take any shit from anyone.
**** LIV: What I love most about your music is that it's so full of Rock 'N' Roll / Soul, I do have to say so myself my favorite is "So Hard To Be Your Friend" JEREMY: Thank you Liv Vee. That’s one of my favorites too. That song means a lot to me.****
Q: When going into write a song, what do you tend to pay more of attention to first the lyrics? A: It’s different every time. Sometimes Mike or me will come up with a riff and then we build around it , sometimes the lyrics and melody come first or often it all happens at once. There are a few songs that have come to me in dreams. Mike has had the same experience with songwriting. There’s one on the new E.P. we have coming out called Shipwrecked. Mike had a dream that he was watching the Stones play this song live. When he woke up he quickly grabbed a guitar and recorded the guitar parts from his dream. A few days later I wrote the words and melody.
Ok last but not least, let's throw in some fun and random questions to add into the mix!
Q: If you had a chance to ask an Alien one question what would it be?! A: Is the anal probing just a vicious rumor, and if not why all the anal probing? what knowledge do you hope to gain? I realize that's more than one question but the truth needs to be revealed.
Q: Ok, Let's just say If you were driving out in the middle of nowhere and your car stalled. You walk some distance and realize there is a free admission front row seats, just happened to be available just for you with Aerosmith playing all of your favorite tunes. But then you see across the street The same free front row show headlining the Rolling Stones playing all of their songs that happen to be your favorite songs of theirs, who would you choose to go see?!
A: The Rolling Stones. I love Aerosmith but the Stones will always be my favorite.
Q: If you could choose to be a guitar or a harmonica which instrument would you choose to be and why?! A: Guitar. There are too many germs on a harmonica.
Make sure to find "The Blessings" on Facebook & Instagram: @the_blessings Also make sure if your in the area to show your support and help Celebrate the release of their upcoming EP "Ship Wrecked"!!!

Where do I even begin to start with these two, as I mentioned before I have the honor of being able to call them not only my friends, but to me to be honest its much more than that, they are FAMILY!! They are just like a Brother and Sister to not only my siblings and I but if they could, Im sure my parents would try to adopt them and call them their own hahaha! But before I get into how I know them I will first start with letting you loves get to know them a little.
The Hip Hop husband and wife duo known as KNS ROCKSTAR is lead by Keyi and Silky from Nashville. They now reside in Oxnard California where not only the town loves them but where they make such a big impact and difference in their community. KNS Rockstar approaches their music with a more positive note which attracts a wide range group of different audiences. They have strong roots in their religion and although they also have a positive attitude, don't get mistaken thinking their music is all soft! When they hit the stage and perform let me just say they kill it!! Their upbeat music will hit you and make you want to get up and dance no matter what your doing or where your at! Their energy seeing them live is so strong you cant help but admire their talent. I know now a days there are so many artist that are very talented, but I can honestly say I truly believe that KNS ROCKSTAR is that music/entertainment that the world needs now a days not only for an older generation but especially for the younger generation!
One of the biggest things I admire so much about KNS ROCKSTAR is their big heart, especially to reach out to people and help in any way they can. One of the things they feel strongly and passionate about is bullying and trying to stop it and reach out to the younger generation. I've seen in person how amazing it is to see not just kids but adults not only enjoy their music but become inspired by what they do. Their message is so strong and the vibes they give off are just so comforting and caring! There has been many to reach out to them on bullying and how KNS has helped make their lives better. I mean that right there says it all! You can ask any one who knows them and they will all tell you the same thing, they are two of the most kindest inspirational people on this earth.
I first met and heard about KNS when I was still in treatment for Hodgkins Lymphoma Cancer, I was having a really tough time with all my treatments finding out that nothing was working at that time and in fact the cancer was spreading. I had gone through a lot already and was told I only had 6 months to live if not given the right treatment, which was especially hard just having lost my grandmother and there was so much going on in our family it was a really dark time not only for my family but myself. There was a lot of hate and people trying to tear me down saying I wasn't sick I was faking it, that my Clothing line was never going to make it, I shouldn't even try. I mean really not so good times and KNS had heard my story through a mutual friend and right away they contacted me and asked if there was anything they could do. And it was shortly after that they visited me and gave me the cutest t shirt, and it was from then on I was so blessed and taken back at how kind they were to my family and me!
They gave us sooooo much support and prayers they were always there to lend a helping hand or encouraging word and even till this day they remain still two of the most supportive people in my life. I'm truly blessed to have them in my life as not only friends/fam but as mentors. They have coached me through all the hard times starting my career and even now in hard times I cant even begin to explain how comforting it is to know they are by my side always there to help guide me. They have and still continue to do so much for me and all I can do is Thank you for always understanding and being there I love you fam always and forever! The next thing you know you're an addict or Alcoholic and when you loose everything you're family and friends abandon you trust me we know we had stars that we looked up to sleeping on our couch and we fed them and guess where they are dead. So be careful what you wish for .

Awwwwwwwww mah gosh ima cry hahah! ok so before I do here's one of my fav songs "Woke up in my City" which ya totally have to check out! And Then lets move on to the questions!!!

Q: When did you realize music was your passion and you wanted to pursue it as a career? A: (Key-I) I knew at the age of 5 i wanted to entertain. My mother and father would tell me to dance at gatherings and i loved it. Then I seen a man on tv named Micheal Jackson and that was it. I've been entertaining ever since.
Q: What is your best Advice to those who want to be involved in the music industry like yourselves? A: To artist out there that want to be in the music game you better get prayed up and get covered with the blood of Jesus cause temptation is out there waiting on you weak links and that's for sure. The reason we've made it through is because we're covered from head to toe we'll tell you we love God buddy and don't care if you like it or not.. Women don't care Men don't care drugs everyyy where free liquor all on the table. Get it together with God before yall make those moves you think you'd be smoking weed you'd be smoking heavy chevys and all. The next thing you know you're an addict or Alcoholic and when you loose everything you're family and friends abandon you trust me we know we had stars that we looked up to sleeping on our couch and we fed them and guess where they are dead. So be careful what you wish for .

The After Hours
Hey Loves! Hoping every one of you are having a great day so far! I don't know about you but I'm super stoked today to start off this months blog theme "Music"!! And the first story I feature will be on the Amazingly Awesome Band "THE AFTER HOURS"!!!!
First off I just want to take the time out to give a special THANK YOU to "The After Hours" especially to Bruce Matis (Guitar) for taking the time out to answer my questions! I super really appreciate it and loved hearing your answers by the way haha! And last but not least I'm sure I speak not only for myself but for many when I say Thank you for making some pretty rad tunes!!! You guys Rock!!
I first came across The After Hours when I was on Instagram, and automatically I can say they grabbed my attention. I mean what's not to like when it comes to their sound full of pure Rock & Roll mixed with some 60's era of rock on top of them adding in there own special unique sense of style. All together it's freggin AWESOME! Not to mention I couldn't help but instantly go deeper into awwwwe when I saw there really awesome 60's style/pants! White and black stripe pants uhhhhhh I mean what girl isn't like overly excited when it comes to really awesome Gents that have a nice style and play good Music! (Soooo Ok im totally aware that I just sounded like a groupie hahah! Opps! Buut Im nooooooot ok just really digging their style they gots some major Mojo if ya ask me! There aint no room to hate but just to appreciate their style! Just sayin!)
Their catchy tunes and lyrics will for sure get ya singing along, the way they perform and sound you can tell they have passion for what they do and you can hear it. To me that is the most attracting thing when it comes to music, when you can feel the artist's passion in playing or singing their music and in this case it shows its all right there in their music! Buut as much as I would love to go on about how ridiculously awesome they are im sure once you hear for your self you will think the same. Of course I had to share one of my favs from them down below on the video "Going to the Go-Go" which is off of their EP "Shaken, Not Stirred"
Available Now on Bandcamp, NoiseTrade, iTunes, Amazon, & Spotify! Also check them out on YouTube here's just one of their vids!
Ok loves! So now on to the questions here is my special Minnie Interview With The After Hours Band Member Bruce Matis!
Band Members Ryan Wilkins - Vocals Bruce Matis - Guitar Masa Nishimura - Bass Paul Niedzwiecki - Drums
Q: How did the band form and come together, did you all already know each other? A: Back in January of 2013, after jamming and writing and refining over a number of months, we officially put The After Hours name on an idea conceived by myself (Bruce) and Ryan. We had a common interest in the roots of rock & roll, the revolutionary turning point where that music really blossomed and came into its own, the early-to-mid 1960's. We wanted to create a sound that combined our love of melodic, raw, real, guitar-oriented rock/pop, the precision and detail of those early British Invasion hits, topped with our own numerous and varied influences. We had met Masa (bass) years before and I used to run around the Sunset Blvd scene crossing paths with Pauly (drums) so everyone came together as acquaintances. Now we're a band of brothers who have evolved into our own unique entity. We couldn't imagine doing this with any other combination.
I Find your band name really catchy, it has a nice ring to it. Q:How did you all come up with the band name? A: That's a simple one! Coming up with a good band name, especially these days, is hell. I'm a huge fan of the old Twilight Zone series, and as I was watching them one night, the title came up: "The After Hours." It struck me like a bolt of lightning, and much to my surprise, the name had actually not been taken! So I snatched it up, and in a way the name helped define our sound and shape our world. Sexy, mysterious, a time warp, an inter-dimensional trip. That's it! Great episode too, starring Anne Francis from "Forbidden Planet". We love all that 50's/60's sci-fi stuff.
Q:How would you describe your sound to those who haven't heard your music yet? A: There's a serious lack of true blue rock & roll in the world these days. We try to serve as a reminder of the vitality of the genre, and do so by mixing a ton of sounds and influences. Catchy, high-energy, simple, dark at times, drenched in sweat and sex and shrouded in mystery. We're the anti-indie band the world seems to be crying out for. We're the show. We're the band that lets you know that you don't have to take yourself so damn seriously. We're the band that helps you escape, not the band that reminds you that you have bills to pay and the world is at war. There are plenty of bands for that. Too many, if you ask us. We are a rock & roll band steeped in the traditions of our forefathers, and our aim is to push the genre into the 21st century with no apologies.
Q:What was the craziest thing so far to happen on stage or in the crowd while performing live? Without going into too much detail, we were hired to play an event at a massive nudist resort last year. We learned that people come in all shapes and sizes...and not all of them are too pretty. You can let your imagination run wild from there...and no, we were not permitted to play naked. Bummer!
Q: If you could describe your band in three words what would they be?
The After Hours.
Q: If you had the chance to tour around the world, where would you most be excited to travel to and why?
It would be incredible to play Tokyo! Japan takes their music very seriously, and they have a deep love and respect for bands, musicianship, and showmanship. Something sorely lacking in the western market. I think they love us there. And Masa's family could finally come see us!
And of course last but not least what kind of interviewer would I be if I didn't ask some fun and random questions?!
Q: Let's say the band was on its way to a show just driving along, and all of a sudden a UFO just comes down in the middle of the road! You then meet an Alien, and you had a chance to ask that Alien one question. What question would you ask?! Got room for four more?
Q: If every time the band walks into a room and a song would play, what song would be your band theme song? A: I want to be cool and say something like "Secret Agent Man" but realistically it would probably be the Benny Hill theme or some shit.
Q: If your band was in a Horror Movie what Horror Movie would you want to be in and why? A: Probably "Scream" , we love a movie or any medium that's self aware and meta, and knows how to take itself just seriously enough, but never TOO seriously. That's kind of like us. Rock & roll music means a hell of a lot to a hell of a lot to people, but sometimes you need to let the stick slide out and remember that its all about fun, escape, and enjoying a brief moment in an all-to-serious world. And between the four of us, we know ALL the horror movie rules, so we'd get out okay as long as we don't deflower a virgin. And Neve Campbelle is hot.
And that's it Loves! I hope you enjoyed this story on the After Hours I had a blast doing it! Again thank you to the After Hours and to Bruce! You can find the AFTER HOURS and there music on: FACEBOOK - www.facebook.com/theafterhoursofficial
